::Be Inspired:: An Interview Josh Newton

We are so excited to announce that we are officially outsourcing all of our images to be edited and we couldn’t be more excited!! What this means to my clients: a faster turnaround time of your pictures and more time for us to simply love on you. :) We have been searching for the perfect fit- someone who’s editing style is similar to mine, who also understands my workflow- I am so excited to announce we have found our perfect match! Thank you so, so much, Marissa, you have no idea how amazing this will be for Jeff and I. We can’t thank you enough!!

Today we are all kinds of excited, as we have another Be Inspired Interview with the amazing Josh Newton! Before WPPI, Josh actually contacted me about potentially meeting up in Portland, unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet, but we hope to make it happen soon! :) We also hoped to run into him at WPPI, though that also failed to happen, so, needless to say, we are pretty eager to meet him! Josh, we are so excited you agreed to do an interview with us!  You are so talented, an all around cool guy and absolutely inspiring! Oh, and for any of you who’ve recently seen Colbie Caillat’s latest album cover, you can thank Josh & Cristianne Taylor.  :)  Enjoy!!

My name is Josh Newton and I am a destination wedding photographer.

What are 3 things we should know about you?
1. I absolutely love traveling and am gone most of the year.
2. The outdoors is where I find my peace
3. Starting my own business has been one of the hardest yet fulfilling things I’ve done in my life

Define your style in 5 words:
Photojournalistic, Artistic, Creative, Clean, Modern

What is your specialty?
I loving shooting anything that has an adventure behind it – whether thats traveling to another country for a wedding, touring with musicians in busses and vespas, or shooting a documentary somewhere. Love it all!

What inspires your work?
A lot of things inspire my work, but the most important thing is probably my faith. That has helped me through the thick and thing and I would be no where without my creator. And He has blessed me with so many amazing and wonderful friends – they have all inspired me, encouraged me, and given me the best advice anyone could ask for when I needed it.

Where is your dream location to do a shoot or wedding?
Through the hills and lakes of Cinque Terre, the mountains of Nepal, in the cherry blossoms of Japan, or in the fields of Argentina.

Divulge one of your dreams for your business:
That I would be able to use my talent, knowledge, and the friends I’ve made to better the world. I want to devote more of my life to helping others and give my time and resources to them.

What do you love most about being a photographer?
The flexibility! I’ve had about 10 different jobs in my life and this has been the only one that allows me to make my own schedule. This means I can have time for working out, being outside, hanging with my friends, and loving my family. I coudn’t feel more blessed!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Thats a great question, and to be honest I have no idea. Sometimes I think I’ll be doing photography forever, other times I think its what I’ve been given to find yet another calling and meet even more passionate and life giving people.

As a fellow Showiteer, what do you love about Showit?
I have built my entire business on word of mouth and word of mouse. Showit is the best tool to allow me to do that better and it’s easy to use. Plus they keep on coming out with better and more versatile functions, Showit is really an amazing company!

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be & why?
I would love to meet our presidents. If I could have a frank and real conversation with them all and have there be nothing barred, that would be pretty sweet. I’ve always wanted to hear what they were really thinking on certain subjects.

What advice do you have for new photographers?
Shoot a ton, don’t listen to anyone talking negatively about your photography (even yourself), seek after adventure, and just live life the best you know how. Use the tools and relationships you’ve been given to make the world a better place to live. Help others, learn how to love better, and care more – everything else will fall into place.

Thank you so much and welcome to the Be Inspired Family, Josh! You are such a giver- a giver or knowledge, a giver of kindness and a giver of love- we need more people like you in this world! :)
