There is something to be said about living in a smaller town. When it comes time to celebrate, we cheer together, louder than most. When it comes time to rally, we pull together, like no other. When it comes time to grieve, we mourn together, all feeling the pain. Eugene is a tight-knit community, which is one of the things I love most about the town I have spent 29 (almost 30!) years of my life in.
Tragedy struck here a few weeks ago and it affected all of us. Neither myself or Jeff ever met Officer Chris Kilcullen. Though we have several friends involved in law enforcement in all different agencies throughout the state of Oregon. The pain they felt over the loss of their brother cut deep and we felt their pain.
Chris Kilcullen was an Officer. He was a Son. A Husband. A Father. A Friend. And if you ask anyone who knew him, they would tell you he was also a good man.
No, we never met Chris. But we feel the loss.
Wanting to pay tribute to the fallen officer, Jeff went to capture stills and our friends, Eugene & Heather of 2Duce2 Films documented footage. Below are pictures from the staging area where agencies from all over the Northwest gathered to begin the processional in honor of Chris Kilcullen. RIP Chris Kilcullen.

jml - Excellent photos, Holli. I did a post about this too, as I made a photo of the flag flying at half-mast on Skinner’s Butte.
