Something’s Got to Give

It’s been 12 days.  12 days of illness for my family.  Enough it enough.  If it weren’t so draining, it would almost be funny.  It all started with Jeff getting the flu.  He spent the entire week at home, trying to get better before we went to Portland last weekend.  We dropped the kids off on Friday afternoon at my aunt and uncles and we were on our way.  Saturday morning we received a phone call that Addi had been up all night with the stomach flu.  We almost went home, but my aunt told us to stay because they had it all under control.  When Monday rolled around everyone in the house had the stomach flu except for Cole.  This time it was my uncle who told us to finish out the day because Monday was the day we had been waiting for- read below if you don’t know why.  :)

Tuesday Addi’s fever finally broke, she was officially over the stomach flu- but still not 100% Addi.  Cole was struggling with a flu bug including a cough and fever.  Wednesday things seemed to be looking up.  Thursday was even better, only Addi still hadn’t really been eating.  Friday rolls around and- Boom!  Cole has the stomach flu and Addi seemed to have fallen back a few steps, her fever returned and she was so weak.  We take the kids to the doctor and Addi has an ear infection in both ears and Cole also has a fever and a nasty cough.

Which leads me to today.  The kids are doing much better, but now my dad, who watches the kids for us during the week, has the stomach flu.  It’s truly amazing!  Knock on wood, but so far I am the only one who hasn’t gotten anything.  I am living on Airborn and Vitamin C.  I have disinfected every surface of my house with Clorox Wipes and tomorrow I plan to scrub my house from top to bottom.  Really, this cycle must end!!
