Living in such a lush, green place like Oregon (which I absolutely love), it’s always exciting to work in a completely different environment. And, when it comes to polar opposites, the Las Vegas desert is the direct opposite of Eugene, Oregon. While both offer gorgeous scenic views, Oregon is loaded with the colors of nature. Vegas, on the other hand, is surrounded by neutral-toned jagged mountains. Both are breathtakingly beautiful and inspire my creativity to no end, though in completely different ways. I love that. Working in a dry lake bed and venturing into Nelson Ghost Town, there was nowhere to hide from the sun, which forced me to totally rethink how I wanted to approach each and every photo– and in the end, I absolutely LOVED the results!
It isn’t very often that I find myself having to shoot in full sun in the middle of the day. For this shoot, which was part of the DECONSTRUCTED SHOOTOUT, I didn’t have a choice but to take on the challenge. Of course, if you know me, you know that I always welcome a challenge! I not only find it exciting and fun, I honestly love being pushed to think outside of my own comfort zone and get creative by trying new things. Very little growth can come from doing the same old thing every single time, right?
When it comes to planning and executing a destination shoot, it’s a huge task. As you can see by all of the beautiful images featured in this post, all of the time, work, and effort are worth it! Fingers crossed that our Pandemic days will be behind all of us soon because I am so ready to adventure back to the desert with my friends! We may even plan another Shootout… Who knows! Seniors, if you’re interested in booking a fun destination shoot, LET’S PLAN THE SESSION OF YOUR DREAMS!
