I can remember the day he was born. I was nine years old playing basketball in the front yard, waiting, no… dying to get the news that the baby was finally here! My brother kept rolling his eyes at me, “Be patient.” Was he crazy?!? How could I possibly be patient? And then the phone rang. A healthy baby boy had been welcomed into the world and into our family!
Derek quickly became “my” baby. I wanted to do everything for him- I barely let his parents lay a finger on him. My aunt always said that every new mother needed a Holli in their life- which I never understood until I had children- but now I get it, the extra pair of hands would have come in handy on more than one occasion! :) From babysitting to t-ball practice, swimming in the backyard to playing in the living room, Derek and I spent loads of hours together. I was his Hol-wee and he was my Baby D. :)
Watching him grow up and become the man he has become is completely bittersweet. But to see him happy means the world to me. It’s impossible to believe that he is getting married and will one day be starting a family of his own. I can only hope that my kids and his kids will be fortunate enough to have the same bonds and love that he and I have had.
Naomie & Derek- we are so happy for you both and know that you two are a perfect fit for each other! We wish you nothing but endless love and happy times! We are so excited for your 2012 wedding! :) We love you guys and we hope you love your pictures!
