::A Girl in a Chair:: Jasmine Star & YWD Workshop

I don’t even know how to sum up the amazing experience I had last week.  Words cannot begin to express what I am feeling.  I absolutely never use this word, but I simply cannot think of another, so please, be kind.  It. Was. Epic.

One of my 2010 goals was to attend a Jasmine Star workshop.  I had accepted that this may not happen, but I never stopped hoping it would.  When Jasmine announced on her blog that she had teamed up with Your Wedding Day Magazine for one of the most amazing workshops ever, I knew I had to be there.  I am so grateful to my family for helping me make it happen.

I’d had the opportunity to meet Jasmine & JD previously when she was speaking at a photography event Jeff and I had attended.  However, this was the first time I was able to shoot beside her, watch her work her magic and learn so many things that I know will only improve my photography.  I have followed Jasmine’s blog for years now and I absolutely LOVE everything she does.  Something about her style, her writing, and just her, speaks to me.  Inspires me.  Pushes me.  Moves me.  And I love it.  :)

My head is swimming right now.  I am still trying to sort through it all and figure out how and what I will apply to my business.  2011 is going to be a huge year, I can feel it.  I am so excited for it and can’t hardly wait for it to get here.  I know that I will continue to grow, change and make adjustments.  But one thing is certain, as a photographer, I know that I have found who I am.  My style may not speak to everyone.  It may not inspire.  It may not push.  It may not move you.  But it’s mine, I own it.  And I love it.  :)

I’m not able to release all of the pictures I photographed, as the sets we were shooting on will be in a future issue of YWD Magazine.  However, we were approved to post the outdoor pictures we captured of the models.  Here’s a little sneak peek!

I spent most of my time with Steph, I was drawn to her natural, earthy feel.  I am in LOVE with the left image below.  :)

You know I am total sucker for sun flair!  Any chance to capture it, it is going to happen!

The grounds at Rancho Las Lomas was amazing!  We moved around to utilize all of the cool areas it had to offer.  :)

Steph- you are stunning!

I didn’t have a chance to work with Melissa as much, which is unfortunate.  She is gorgeous!

A lot of the pics I took of Jasmine will reveal the sets YWD setup, sadly I can’t post those yet.  But, here is one that keeps the set a mystery, but shows her interacting with the client and explaining how she is setting up the shot.

Here is the fabulous JD, getting some behind-the-scenes pics of his amazing wife.  :)

TO JASMINE, JD, THEA, CATHRYN & YWD: Thank you so much for this amazing event! I cannot thank you enough!!

TO THE WORKSHOP ATTENDEES: I just have to add that I met the greatest people at this workshop, people that I am proud to now call my friends. This was an experience of a lifetime for me and it was an honor to share it with so many of you. I can’t wait to see you all at WPPI! :)
