::Be Inspired:: An Interview with Elizabeth-Ann King

I have to begin this post by saying that we have spent hours now watching the devastation that is currently taking place in Japan. My heart, thoughts and prayers goes out to the people there. I cannot even begin to imagine what they must be going through or the amount of heartache they have yet to face. Life is full of so many uncertainties, unknowns and surprises. Sadly, when something like this happens, it is a needed reminder of what is truly important in life and take time to cherish the ones you love and be thankful for the life you have.

On the lighter side of things, I am so excited about this week’s interview with a very talented (and young!!) photographer that I have had the great pleasure of getting to know over the past few months. She is full of life, love, ambition and passion. I have been blown away by her amazing photography, as well as her devotion to her faith. She is already doing so many great things for this industry and I am thrilled to see what the future holds for her. Whatever it is, I have no doubt that it is going to be amazing!! :) She is Elizabeth-Ann King of eakPhotography, based out of Birmingham, Alabama. She is sure to inspire!! Enjoy! :)

My name is Elizabeth Ann King and I am a 15 year old photographer. :)

What are 3 things we should know about you?
Hmmm…
1) Well… yeah, I’m 15. and I LOVE it that way.
2) I believe in authentic love and am blessed to be able to capture it.
3) There is NOTHING I could do without the Lord. I live, I breathe, I bless, I take pictures because of Jesus.

Define your style in 5 words:
Authentic, free, genuine, bright, FUN.

What is your specialty?
Anything genuine. I just LOVE love. I love capturing your real moments, and I do LOVE weddings :)

What inspires your work?
Magazines, other photogs blogs, real life happenings…. My desire to capture real life emotions and memories that speak so much greater than a photo. I do have a notebook where I have tons of pictures that I love cut out of magazines! :)

Where is your dream location to do a shoot or wedding?
Rosemary Beach. It’s beautiful and the houses are incredible. Dream location to shoot as well as get married at. :)

Divulge one of your dreams for your business:
Well… Hopefully I will have graduated High School! Haha, I would looooveeee to have a studio with my AMAZING assistant/second shooter. But, I just want to be where God wants me… and I’m willing to follow that no matter the cost… It’s worth it.

What do you love most about being a photographer?
I love that I can make it my own. Sure there are great techniques, but I define my business and my photos and I can capture someone exactly where they are in life. I have the BEST clients in the world!!!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
My dream is just to get to my fullest potential.. I love what I do and want to thrive in this. I am so incredibly blessed to have AMAZING photographers who have invested in me, and I want to do the same for others.

As a fellow Showiteer, what do you love about Showit?
OH MAN!!! I could go on for days. Showit is INCREDIBLE! I used another company for a while and didn’t think much about a website, but when I started getting to know Promise I realized how crucial it is to have a site that resembles me. I love that I control how it looks… The colors, the music, the vibe. I just LOVE it!

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be & why?
Hmmm… If I could meet any photogs, I have quite a few. Holli True being one :) Along with her, some incredible photogs like Karen Stott and Latasha Haynes. and of course Jasmine Star and Promise Tangeman. I am so thankful for the way all of them have invested in me, and I absolutely cannot wait until I can finally meet at least some of them in person!

What advice do you have for new photographers?
Keep at it. Don’t give up. It’s HARD (at least for this 15 year old:)). There’s a lot of “competition”, but just be YOU. Do it because you enjoy it, not because you have to be the best. There will always be someone better. God created you exactly the way you are for you to shine!

Elizabeth-Ann, thank you so, so much! :) You are like a breath of fresh air! I know you have inspired so many people, including me! Thank you!!
