::Be Inspired:: An Interview with Brooke Beasley

I am so excited to feature this week’s photographer, as she has been my internet buddy for a long time now.  We actually connected last summer over Escalate Live.  :)  We found ourselves tuning-in together and happily conversing in the chat room, both of us wishing we could have been attending in person.  Over the following months, we continued to connect via facebook and by leaving some comment love on each of our blogs.  :)  And we both can’t wait for the day when we can really meet, in person, which hopefully will be at WPPI in Vegas in about a week…  This weeks inspiration comes from the uber-fabulous Brooke Beasley.  Enjoy…

My name is Brooke and I am a photographer, mom of 2 boys and a wife to an amazing man.

Divulge one of your dreams for your business:
I would really love to do a little more edgy fashion work someday.

What are 3 things we should know about you?
1. I am scared to death of public speaking
2. I will rarely kill anything bigger than and ant (I have tried not to kill ants and they have left me no choice). I try and get them to the outdoors.
3. I think I’m funny

Define your style in 5 words:
Fun, Clean, Classic, Pure (Thanks Shannon), Real.

What is your specialty?
Haha…good question. I rack my brain trying to decide what to specialize in and I honestly can’t decide. I think I get bored to easily so I need to keep mixing it up.

What inspires your work?
I LOVE light and sun. Every time I drive somewhere I am constantly looking at how the light falls on things and different locations. I also love looking at other blogs to help me to remember to step outside myself a bit.

Where is your dream location to do a shoot or wedding?
Ummmmm…..Bali, Tahiti, Italy.

Divulge one of your dreams for your business:

What do you love most about being a photographer?
I really love to meet all the new clients and seeing old clients again. I am beginning my 3rd year in business so I’m starting to see those repeat clients more and more. It’s so fun to see their families grow as well as our friendships.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I have no idea. LOL! I can barely plan a week ahead. I would love to be able to balance it all and just be happy and doing what I love.

As a fellow Showiteer, tell us what you love about Showit:
I love that it is so easy and user friendly. My site is currently in the process of having a major makeover right now. It also never gives me problems!

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be & why?
I would love to spend time with Annie Leibovitz.

What advice do you have for new photographers?
Practice nailing your focus!!!!! Learn your camera inside and out before charging money. I did sooo many free sessions when I first started and it helped in the long run.

Brooke, thank you so much for a fabulous interview! You are absolutely amazing and I am so honored you chose to be a part of Be Inspired. :)
