We took a little mini hiatus from the Be Inspired Interviews due to our hectic schedule through July. It was quite a whirlwind, but we loved every single second of it! :) We are more excited than ever to have the interviews back in full swing! The Be Inspired Interviews spotlight other photographers from all over the world who share 2 (or more) things in common with us: They are passionate about photography & They are Showiteers.
Now, I get asked all the time from readers, “What is a Showiteer?” A Showiteer, in a nutshell, is someone who is rad, forward thinking and all about sharing and supporting the photography industry. They are also users of Showit, the software company that we have been with for 3+ years for our website. But Showit is not just website software. It is so much more than that. They have created something that is so unique and so amazing, it’s almost impossible to explain. But I will do my best by saying this: When you join Showit, yes you will be able to create an original and fabulous website, but you will also be welcomed into the Showiteer family with open arms. We are so, so thrilled for this week’s interview with one incredible man who not only packs some insane talent, but also a heart of gold. We have had the pleasure of getting to know this Showiteer via Facebook for the past several months and just adore him! His name is Keith Powell, residing in Hope, Arkansas. :) (What a fabulous name for a town, right??) Keith not only supports and loves his fellow Showiteers, he has also been posting all kinds of “Julie Story videos” (documentaries-on-the-go, if you will), that are absolutely priceless. I’m Keith Powell and I’m a lifestyle wedding photographer in Hope, Arkansas. My partner in the business is Trish Steed. Trish is an amazing photographer. She makes me better by just being around her.
What are 3 things we should know about you?
1. I’m a closet Beavis and Butthead fan.
2. I love to deer hunt.
3. I have 10 hours of RUSH’s music on my iPhone.

What is your specialty?
Wedding photography.
What inspires your work?
There are lots of things that inspire me, but I get the most excited when a bride sees a photo I shot and she starts to cry. That keeps me going and makes me want to get better.
Where is your dream location to do a shoot or wedding?
To be honest my dream shoot would be from an NFL sideline, not a wedding. Someone hook me up!
Divulge one of your dreams for your business:
I would love for my business to become a full time business. That’s my goal and my dream.
What do you love most about being a photographer?
I love to capture moments more than people. But I would have to say trying to help other photographers is more my passion than my own photography.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Traveling, sharing, teaching and making friends.
As a fellow Showiteer, what do you love about Showit?
Freedom. Community. Love. Friendship. Showiteers are better people than they are photograhers, and they are GREAT photographers.
If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be & why?
I hope it’s ok to name some dead guys, because I’m going to! Jackie Robinson and Abraham Lincoln would be two at the top of the list. I would also love to spend an hour with George W. Bush. I hope it’s ok that I named more than one!
What advice do you have for new photographers?
Join a community of photographers that can help build you up, not tear you down. Share what you know and never regret it, even if it comes back to bite you every now and then.
