If you’re a regular blog reader, you know that I am on a mission to redefine what the senior portrait experience means for me and my clients. (If you want to read more about this, CLICK HERE.) If you’ve ever been through this process, you know that it isn’t something that happens over-night. It takes time and patience. Two things that I’m not very good at! So, even though I want to rush it, I can’t. I wouldn’t be doing myself any favors, if I did. Instead, I’m trying to enjoy the journey. Enjoy the unknown. Enjoy the inspiration. I’m trusting the process, knowing that wherever this road leads, it’s only going to make me a stronger person, photographer, creative and artist.

I am a firm believer that it takes getting uncomfortable to get comfortable. To push myself not to fall back on the routine of how I used to always shoot, for Liz’s shoot I decided to hit-up a local shopping center and explore new areas that I had never shot in before. This alone forced me out of my typical comfort zone. To really shake things up, I left my trusty 85mm lens in my camera bag and only shot with my new lens of choice, the SIGMA 35mm 1.4 ART. The difference between those two lenses is huge! The 35mm forces me to change my approach entirely. I’m only beginning to scratch the surface of what my photography can be and for the first time, in a long time, I’m really excited about the endless possibilities.

Liz, I can’t thank you enough for such a fun session! As always, you were so great to work with! The camera loves you, girl! Lucky for us, the photos don’t reveal just how unbearably cold it was! You were such a trooper, which I appreciate so much! I can’t wait to work with you again soon!
