I’m really switching things up today. I don’t typically post twice in one day AND I rarely have senior guy sessions to share- so this is pretty much awesome, all the way around! As most of you probably know, I specialize in high school senior portraits for girls. Because I am a specialist, it isn’t often that I get to work with senior guys.
I often get asked by other photographers if I find it hard to photograph guys and my answer is a big, fat NO. A fun little fact about me- I am the only granddaughter out of six grandchildren. I have an older brother and four boy cousins on my dad’s side of the family. I was raised around sports, video games, scary movies and obnoxious sarcasm. So, needless to say, working with guys is pretty much second nature for me and I honestly find it to be a lot of fun!
So, when our sweet friends, Kim & Casey, came to us about photographing Brenden, I was stoked! I only had 2 guy sessions last year for the Class of 2014. When I work with guys, I have to switch my approach entirely. I really love the challenge, as it allows me to reset my brain and forces me to think on my toes. How guys and girls want to look and feel during a session is totally different. In a nutshell, guys typically want to look cool and feel tough. Whereas girls typically want to look effortless and feel beautiful. It’s a whole new ballgame altogether.
Brenden, I can’t thank you enough for such an awesome shoot! You are such a character and I can honestly say that the camera loves you as much as you love it. :) You are such a great guy- never lose your sense of humor, it’s a pretty awesome! I know that you have an incredible future ahead of you! I can’t wait to see it all unfold! I hope you had half as much fun as I did! Happy Graduation Day! Much love!
