I recently posted a link in a group that I belong to on Facebook about our Client Look Books that we offer. The purpose of my post was to simply show people how I use MagCloud, but what transpired was tons of comments, messages and emails. It was completely unexpected, but also exciting to see photographers get so pumped about a new product they could also offer for their clients. So, if you had questions about my Look Books, this post is for you.
This past year I have spent a ton of time and energy defining my style and brand, trying to give every area of my business the same time, dedication and treatment. What I realized was that I was totally dropping the ball when it came to products. I wasn’t excited about my products- so why would my clients be? I decided to wipe the slate clean and start fresh, removing 75% of what I was offering, focusing my business around key products that I loved that fit my brand.
I knew I wanted to create something unique, fresh and fun, something out of the norm. I wanted to create a must-have product that I could get into the hands of all of my clients. Something that could showcase my gorgeous girls, my style of photography and my brand all in one. What I came up with was the Look Book. A magazine featuring my clients in actual print. Here is an example of Aedin’s Look Book to give you an idea of the layout:

We have our Look Books printed through MagCloud. Their quality is absolutely amazing, as well as their customer service. If you aren’t familiar with them, I highly recommend that you test them out. I assure you, you won’t regret it! To give them a Magazine feel, our Young & Free Logo is placed on the cover, either at the top of the bottom. Depending on the cover image, it is either black or white. We feature one of our clients favorites from their session as the cover image to give it the spotlight. Aside from our logo, the Look Book is otherwise completely dedicated to our clients and their images. To keep it simple, we chose not to include any other written content within it, of course, you could totally opt to include a blurb about them, a message from their parents, a fun Q&A, etc. The possibilities are endless! The main thing to remember when offering these to your clients, keep your brand and style in mind.
Many of you had concerns about creating your own layouts, so I decided to share mine! The Classic are the templates I created for my Look Books, they are clean and modern, no flourishes. You can create your own Client Magazine/Look Book in minutes with these simple layouts! Mix & Match the 14 layouts to create unique magazines every time! I put several full-page images throughout my Look Books, mixed with collage pages. These templates are easy to use and already meet MagCloud size requirements for printing. They are currently available for just $30!
If you have any questions about Look Books for your business, please post them here! I am happy to share my experience with them and/or help in anyway I can! Much love!
