We let our couples choose where they want to do their sessions because they may have a special place in mind. One of the biggest things I urge them to do is to think outside the box. Be true to who you are- as a couple or as a senior- and really think about what types of locations really suit you. If you love natural settings and wildflowers- an open field would be perfect for you. If you love texture and the look of concrete and brick, clearly an urban session is ideal for you. If you’re artsy and love color, think about locations that offer graffiti or sculptures to play off of. If you love to feel the sand between your toes and don’t mind a little water, why not opt for a beach session?
Another thing to consider for your session is what you want to wear. The location you choose will influence this- or possibly change where you go. Now, I do love when my client(s) pick a location- let’s say urban- and wear something gorgeous and frilly. The contrast between the grungy, rough urban setting compared against the beautiful, flowing fabric is just plain awesome. However, choosing to do a shoot at the coast really won’t allow for mini skirts and stilettos. Really think it through. Also- think about how you want to do your hair and makeup. Wide open spaces like beaches and fields don’t protect you from the elements- such as wind, sun, rain… Be prepared for the curve-ball Mother Nature may throw your way. :)
Truly, the possibilities are endless. Our goal is to capture YOU. Whoever you are, wherever you want to be. Just have fun with it! :)
Jeff and I absolutely LOVE to travel! We have been fortunate enough to visit many locations, though we have many, many more on our destination dream list. Wherever we go, we strive to always do a session or two so we can take advantage of working in new locations. We do this for a few reasons, it keeps us on our toes- as we can’t fall back on what is safe, we meet new people and we get to see the places we travel to in a whole new way. To me, this is a win, win, win. :) Here are some pictures I pulled from the vault of a couple I did a mini session with while in Vegas. LOVED the locations they picked in the Arts District and Fremont Street. Happy Wednesday everybody!
