I had no idea what to expect as I drove out to meet Lyndsey for her senior session. My directions were to drive out until the road ends and turn onto the gravel road, she would be there waiting for me. It isn’t very often that I have a client who takes scouting the location for a shoot into her own hands, but Lyndsey did. And can I just say, she chose a killer spot! A reservoir, a graffiti-filled abandoned building and wide open fields served as backdrops to our day- and it was perfect. Perfectly Lyndsey: unique, simple and gorgeous.
As I reflected on this session during my 2.5 hour drive home, I realized how much I had enjoyed working in the unknown. It was exciting to arrive to a shoot without a preconceived notion of where I could pose her, I’ll admit, it was also a little nerve-racking. ;) But, it reminded me of my early days in photography. When every session stirred up butterflies. Working in this brand new environment forced me to think on my toes, to step back and really use my eyes and imagination to seek out the perfect shooting locations, to think outside the box. It forced me to work harder and smarter. It forced me to be creative. And I loved it!
Lyndsey, bottom line, you are awesome! You are such a cool girl and one of the sweetest people I have ever met and had the opportunity to work with! I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved hanging out with you and your sister, I hope you two had just as much fun! I’m pretty sure I need to hire you as a Stylist/Location-Scouter. ;) You pretty much knocked both out of the park! Consider it! Haha! I hope you love your senior pictures, girl!! Much love!!
