Taking Savannah’s senior pictures was absolutely surreal– and also once of those full-circle moments. I met Savannah and her mom, Raianne, when she was just a baby– all the way back to my days working at PICTURE PEOPLE. (Yes… the portrait studio that had the twirly hats, fisherman vests an and photo ties back in the early 2000’s!) I was working there as a part-time photographer, which is ultimately how I fell in love with photography– inspiring me to start my very own photography business years later… Crazy, right?
To this day, I can still remember that very first photo shoot for Savannah. She was dressed in the cutest little tutu and jean jacket, her mom. kept calling her, Goose, which was her dad’s nickname for her. She was the cutest little role-poly bundle of love! Raianne and I totally connected in the studio that day and from then on– I became Raianne’s requested photographer. As their family grew, there were a lot of photo shoots that followed. When I left Picture People for a corporate job at a credit union in 2005, I lost touch with Raianne, Savannah and her triplet siblings, Gavin, Garrett and Grace.
Years later, as luck would have it, my son, Cole, wound up playing on the same lacrosse team with Gavin & Garrett. I mean, what are the odds? It was so cool reconnecting with their family and getting to see the kids again. Of course, since they were all so young, they didn’t really remember me– but they were familiar with the photos that I had taken of them when they were babies and toddlers.
You can imagine my excitement when Raianne contacted me to book Savannah’s senior session! I totally jumped at the opportunity and couldn’t wait to get her back in front of the camera. Her session was so much fun! Savannah is a total character with the cutest personality and a smile that just radiates genuine happiness. Working with her really was a career highlight for me because it really did feel monumental. Raianne, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to be Savannah’s senior photographer! I just adore your family to pieces! Savannah, you are the seriously amazing!! I hope you love the photos as much as I do! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you– I know it will be incredible!
