Last month, I had the honor and privilege to travel up to Washington to teach at the amazing CLICK AWAY Photography Conference in Seattle. Click Away is such an incredible event put on by the fabulous Click & Co (formerly known as Clickin Moms). This was my second year in a row to teach photography classes at Click Away and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! Click & Co puts on an unforgettable event and it was such a treat to be one of their many educators!
I was so excited when I learned that Click Away 2016 was going to be held in Seattle. For those of you who don’t know, Seattle is one of my favorite places in the world! Being a Northwest Girl, I’ve visited that little gem of a city many times and I absolutely LOVE it there! In typical PNW fashion, it rained. Most of the weekend. But I refused to let that derail me or change my plans for my classes. Instead, I took my attendees outside and showed them exactly how I shoot in rain. We got lucky during our morning shoot Jamie, as the rain held off until minutes after my classes concluded. ;)
The location for this shoot was so awesome! It was held at the SEATTLE CENTER, an eclectic, artsy downtown park, originally built for the 1962 World’s Fair. This is a place I have been to many times, mainly to visit the EMP (Experience Music Project) and, of course, the Space Needle. Having always gone there as a bit of a tourist, it was so fun to see the location in a new way, as a photographer. I’m not gonna lie, I loved shooting there! It was such a huge change for me because I am used to working in natural environments, but I totally embraced this urban-inspired session! It really made me envious of all of the Seattle-based photographers who get to do sessions there all of the time. If only Eugene had something nearly as amazing. A girl can dream, right?
Jamie, I can’t thank you enough for coming out to hang with all of us at Click Away! You are such a beautiful girl and I just adored getting to know and work with you! I’m really hoping we can shoot again sometime soon!! If you’re ever in Oregon- let me know! To my amazing Click Away attendees, thank you all so much for participating in my classes! It was so wonderful to meet you all and I can’t wait to see all of the gorgeous imagery you captured! Also, thank you for your patience with the weather and battling the rain with me! I hope you loved the classes as much as I did and I can’t wait to see you at Click Away in the future! If you attended one of my classes and you’re reading this post, please post any links to images you’ve posted from Click Away in the comment section below! I would LOVE to see what you captured! Much love!
