Snow is currently falling outside my window. Not enough to really accumulate on the ground, but enough to make my snow-loving-heart swoon! Truth is, winter is VERY LATE arriving in Oregon this year. I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to show up at all. I’m like a little kid when it comes to snow. I’m talking face-to-the-window-every-5-minutes. I have six weather apps on my phone, if that tells you anything (categorized under the name of Weather Nerd, which is quite fitting). Needless to say, now that we have snow in the forecast over the next 72 hours, I’m absolutely giddy! And you should have a clear visual of what I will be doing for the next three days!
Winter in Eugene typically means fog and rain. I guess it’s a good thing that I also love the rain, huh? Living in the Willamette Valley, we’re surrounded by mountains in every direction but north. But, because we’re in the valley, snow is rare. We get the wet cold, not the pretty cold. When Mother Nature throws a snowball our way, I eagerly await it’s arrival. :) A few years ago, on one fateful snow day, I threw together an impromptu SNOW SHOOT with a local senior named Grace. The entire session took place in under an hour about 2 minutes from my house. To date, it’s my most popular blog post I’ve ever shared and one of my favorite senior sessions ever! This shoot also went viral on Pinterest- one image has been repinned over 32,000 times!
I recently met up with some of the girls on my 2018 Senior Model Team for some fun urban winter sessions in downtown Eugene. We lucked out with some sun breaks, which was so pretty to shoot, despite the freezing cold temperature. My girls are seriously the best. Not only did they brave the cold with me, they were all so sweet and happy to move around to a variety of locations. Urban sessions are really growing on me, don’t be surprised to see more of them in the future! Sam, I can’t thank you enough for such a fun shoot! I hope you love the images as much as I do!
