When I was a little girl, propped up a stool in my kitchen with my dad patiently beside me, guiding me line by line as I learned to write my own name, I made a declaration. Even at the age of four, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a writer. Growing up, I would spend endless hours in my room, filling the pages of spiral bound notebooks with words pulled together by my imagination, creating stories of pretend friends in places I wanted to visit on pages I wanted to live in forever.
You see, writing is something I feel I was born to do. Although I may never get published and I may only wind up writing for myself, to be completely honest, I am 100% okay with that. I find pure joy in creating my characters and developing plots and pulling together all of the needed elements for a story. I write because it makes me subliminally happy. I write for me.
I am currently writing a book with my amazing friend, Marissa Lynn, who also happens to be a photographer. :) We call ourselves Marlli (MARissa & HoLLI… Cute, right?) What started out as a small fleeting idea has turned into a full-fledged story so large, we can’t contain it all in one book. It’s going to be at least 3 complete novels by the time all is said and done. The first book is titled Reckless and we are just about to the halfway point in the writing process. There is something about this particular story that just feels different. It’s not just a story, it’s Hailey & Jonah’s story and it must be told. We would love to have you follow our journey on our Facebook Page, where we have been posting excerpts, sneak peeks and so much more! Also, if you want to hear the music behind the inspiration, I have created a Reckless Soundtrack on Spotify. You know me and music… ;)
I have never been more certain that this is my time to make this dream happen. While I can’t exactly explain it, I can feel it. Writing a novel is quite a journey, it takes a ton of time, planning and patience. But it also takes a ton of support. And I feel so blessed and lucky to be married to the man who believes in my dreams, have friends who constantly encourage me and be loved by my amazing family who have all taken on the task of being my personal cheerleaders. I cannot thank all of you enough for supporting me through this process and allowing me to spread my creative wings and fly! I couldn’t do it with out you!!
To give you a little taste of the world we have created for Hailey & Jonah, here is snapshot of our top secret storyboard. If you want to know the full story, be sure to follow us! And, for the record, this is NOT a vampire or werewolf story- despite my love for Twilight, I am not trying to recreate it!! :) Much love!!
