During a recent workshop, one of the attendees asked me why I hadn’t blogged many of my personal/concept shoots.  My answer: Because I didn’t know where they fit with Senior Portraits.  Sound silly?  Yeah.  It does to me, too.  I mean, it’s MY WORK, shouldn’t it fit simply because I shot it?  Of that, I’m still not certain…  A few years ago, after making the decision to specialize in Senior Portraits for Girls, I worked very long and very hard building the Holli True | Young & Free Brand.  Because my focus is now solely on senior portraits, it seemed a little strange to me to publish my personal projects on my senior photography blog- since the sessions aren’t related to senior portraits at all.  Posting these sessions almost felt wrong to me because of it.  So, I shelved them instead.  But that also felt wrong.

Truth is, I’ve wanted to publish these sessions more times than I can even count.  So much time, thought and effort has gone into each of the concepts I have put together and it such a shame to not share them.  Although these sessions aren’t seniors, I am still very passionate about them and emotionally attached.  They are my strongest source of inspiration for my soul, my daily dose of daydreaming and creation.  So, tucked away on an external hard-drive is the last place these images belong.  They were meant to be shared.  And so, they will be.

Photography has been one of life’s greatest gifts to me.  It has allowed me to create beauty with my hands and imagination and see beauty in everything.  And I love nothing more than pausing in the here and now to appreciate and document the beauty that surrounds me.  Every. Single. Day.  Are you taking the time to feed your creative soul?  Do you allow inspiration to breathe life into your photography?  If not, what are you waiting for?
