Immense joy. That’s the feeling that consumes my heart and soul when I talk about my life as an aspiring writer. Only, I don’t know that I like to refer to it as “aspiring” anymore. Because I am a writer. Plain and simple. I think a better definition would be: a writer who’s aspiring to have her novels read. Yeah. That sounds more like it.

Yes, it is true that I have been pretty much consumed in my novel these days. You see, I kinda set a crazy goal to have the first draft of my novel written by my 33rd birthday. I set the goal about 5 weeks ago, when I had 12 chapters written (half of my book), so I had 12 more chapters to go. My birthday is exactly 3 weeks away and you know what? I only have 3 more chapters to write! That’s right- I managed to write 9 chapters in the past 5 weeks! No one- and I mean NO ONE- is more shocked than me! I know, for some writers out there, 9 chapters in 5 weeks isn’t much of a cause for celebration, but considering it took my a year to write the first 12- this celebration is pretty legit! ;)

For those of you who don’t know, Reckless, the book I am currently penning, is written from the perspective of BOTH of my main characters, Hailey & Jonah. The perspective changes per chapter. It has been so much fun to explore the mindsets of both of them, I feel that it thoroughly depicts their feelings for one another, as well as their fears, hopes and quite simply, their humanity. I’ve included a few excerpts here for your reading pleasure, so you can get to know them both a little more, until the book launches.

I went back and forth for a long time, trying to figure out what to do about sharing my writing journey. Should I share it here, on my photography blog? Or should I create an entirely new website that I could dedicate to all things writing? It was a tough choice, but I feel secure that I made the right decision. And I am so proud and excited to officially announce that I have a brand new website where I will be sharing tons of info about my novels, both the current work in progress, Reckless, as well as the future novels for that series. :) Want to join me on this journey (please say YES!), then you’re in luck- because you can!
