I am not (typically) a studio photographer. Yes, I did begin there, shooting film. But today, 99.9% of my sessions take place on-location. Last year, you might recall our Simplicity shoot, a concept that took place in-studio with nothing but a white backdrop and a stool. :) The whole idea behind Simplicity was to push myself not rely on anything except my clients- focus solely on them, as I had nothing else to rely on. Simplicity was all about the posing and nothing to do with location. It was an incredible mental exercise for me, one that I am thrilled that I tackled. And, if I am being honest, I have to admit that I loved working in a studio again, to truly see how much my creativity and photography had grown and morphed in the six years that I had been removed from it.
You can imagine my excitement when I received a session inquiry from Taylor, a Portland-area senior who wanted to shoot in both a studio and on-location. It isn’t everyday that I get inquiries like this, so I was quite thrilled with the idea of challenging myself once again to do a shoot where the focus remained on her and her alone. The results? Well, lets just say I have never been more convinced that a studio might be a necessity for our company. :) We’ll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds…
Taylor, I cannot thank you enough for such an incredible shoot. You. Are. Amazing. And I mean that. Despite the horrid heat (we’re talking 103 degrees!!), the day was pure awesome and we loved every minute we spent with you! You are such a sweet, bright, charismatic girl with a beautiful heart and can I just say I love your face! :) I hope that you love Part One of your Feature and cannot wait to share Part Two with you tomorrow! I hope you have a killer senior year!! Much love!
